Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for a Global Application Specialist in the field of connectivity and monitoring in industrial automation. In this role you will be team member of Agile Team (AT) Develop Applications and Solutions: Industrial Machinery & Control within Agile Unit (AU) Industry & Control. You will be mainly accountable for:

• Develop applications in industrial automation which involve connectivity of intelligent devices such as PLCs (programmable logic controllers), gateways, communication cards, motor starters, contactors, softstarters and other smart control devices
• Support customers to identify the best solutions for their projects
• Support test and validation of applications
• Define ABB and competitive landscape, monitor market trends in the above applications and recommends adjustments for the long and mid-term strategy
• Support development of adequate customer journey
• Provide feedback to R&D, Product management and Digital on new development

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or software and preferably 3 years of experience industrial automation
• Knowledge of industrial automation common protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus RTU /TCP, Profibus/net, DeviceNet, Ethernet IP, …
• Knowledge of connectivity software such as Python
• Knowledge of programming language for industrial PLCs
• Agile mindset and preferable experience in an agile working context
• Proficiency in written and spoken English
• Negotiation skills, market knowledge, leadership skills, social skills complete the profile
