Job Description

As a Battery System Engineer (m/f/d), you will play a crucial role in our mission to develop cutting-edge battery solutions for aerospace and safety-critical applications. Your extensive knowledge of system engineering processes and electrical engineering background will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of our battery systems.

Your mission during this flight:

  • System Engineering Expertise: Apply your substantial knowledge of system engineering processes to evaluate requirements, design descriptions, functions, and more at both the system and component levels. Ensure that our battery systems meet the highest safety and performance standards.
  • Aerospace and Safety-Critical Focus: Leverage your experience in aerospace or other safety-critical applications to align battery system development with industry-specific requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Electrical Engineering: Apply your electrical engineering background to contribute to the design and integration of electrical components within our battery systems.
  • Requirements Management: Handle internal system engineering processes aligned with development lifecycle needs, including rigorous requirements management and milestone deliverables.
  • Component Design Documentation: Take ownership of component design description documents and interface control documents to ensure the clarity and effectiveness of our designs.
  • Supplier Collaboration: Review and collaborate on supplier documents, such as requirement specifications and design descriptions, to maintain consistency and quality across the supply chain.
  • Validation and Verification: Specify and support the validation and verification activities of component requirements, adhering to safety-critical aerospace standards.
  • Milestone Support: Provide support for system-level and component-level milestones, such as Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), and Test Readiness Review (TRR).
  • Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with regulatory authorities like EASA to ensure our battery systems comply with safety and certification standards as needed.

Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Substantial knowledge of system engineering processes, particularly in aerospace or safety-critical applications
  • Strong background in embedded software development and experience with safety-critical software standards (e.g., DO-178)
  • Proficiency in at least one requirements management tool (e.g., DOORS, Integrity)
  • Team player with the ability to lead technical discussions and effectively organize and execute tasks
  • Fluent in English

Preferred Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of high-voltage (HV) and Li-ion batteries, brushless DC motor control, DC power distribution, digital communication buses, and/or model-based systems engineering
  • Experience with Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards and guidelines, such as ARP-4761, DO-254, DO-311, and DO-160
